Before I became a hypnotherapist I was a graphic designer. My ability to create art helped me launch my business and I have carried on with it as a sideline ever since.
While training with Mike Skidmore, a fabulous artist, I realised how many people lacked confidence in their skills and talent.
Later, when I was writing my book “Driving Me Crazy”, many people said, “I couldn’t do that”. You can – you just need to feel more confident and put that into your art.
Art and Imposter Syndrome
Many creatives have imposter syndrome, the truth is that everyone has their own taste in art and literature. There are many forms of both I dislike, that’s not to say they’re bad but it’s my preference. So it’s safe to say someone out there will like your art or writing enough to buy.
When I work with artists and writers, I help them relax and focus on all the positives around the work, who their clients are and what their goals are. We work towards those goals and where they want to go with all their skills and abilities.
Create the art that reflects you
Many artists have dyslexia, and over the 15 years I have worked as a therapist, many with it see it as a disability, the truth is that there are always solutions to this problem – you use technology, research and find people who can help.
